Isocyanic acid formula

It is an isomer of fulminic (paracyanic) acid (H-C≡N→O).

When an iron nail is added to isocyanic acid, a slow reaction begins with the release of small transparent bubbles.
After 15-30 seconds, a violent reaction begins with the release of a large amount of brown smoke and voluminous bubbling. Peak reaction after 2-3 minutes, depending on the concentration and volume of isocyanic acid.
The nail dissolves completely, and dissolved brown iron crystals remain at the bottom.

SCOPE OF APPLICATION:

In the civil sector, during the processing of nephrite as an additional raw material, it improves quality, burns out all metals and gives a rich light and purity to the stone. During deep processing of precious and semi-precious stones, it plays an active role.

Made according to a specific process in a reactor, does not burn hands (rinse with water after working with acid). For a less violent reaction, dilution with distilled water is done.

Colorless, transparent liquid with a pungent odor similar to the smell of acetic acid.
